BNUE’s symbol is the Hansae – a mythical “great bird” (Bongsae) whose wings are said to span thousands of li and cover the northern seas in a single flap. According to legend, the slopes of Mount Geumjeong were nesting grounds for these great birds, and the University’s current campus was called the “Hansae Egg‑Site.” The area was thus known as Hansae Field, and BNUE’s community regards it as a sacred nest where students hone their skills.
